In Hermann Park the goal was to provide an attractive bridge connecting a planned bikeway at Dixie to a planned path through the Hermann Golf Course. The Hermann Park Conservancy desired a Landmark Bridge.

Bill Coats Bridge over Brays Bayou
The Bill Coats Bikeway Bridge crosses Brays Bayou just east of the Hermann Park Golf Course. The bridge is 293 feet long, featuring intersecting steel arches with a suspended deck. Attorney Bill Coats (1940 - 2010) was a champion of Houston bikeways, parks, and green space.

Concept for Tierwester Bikeway - East Brays Bayou Bridge
The bridge at Tierwester would connect existing shared lane bikeways from Tierwester across North MacGregor, across Brays Bayou, and across South MacGregor to Rio Vista. The Tierwester Bikeway serves Texas Southern University (0.6 miles) and the University of Houston (1.1 miles). The objective was to provide attractive bike / pedestrian bridges while maintaining safe and clear access from the bike paths, and without impacting flow along Brays Bayou. The design would provide for Brays Bayou ultimate channel width, connectivity to existing bikeways along Brays Bayou, and improved connectivity across the bayou.
